In 2007, I took an angle grinder to the frame of an exercise bike to access the front wheel and used the handle bars to make a cradle, built-in the guts of a record player, and was gifted a record of JFK’s famous speeches (before buying every additional copy I could find at a used record store). The project assembly was quick, but it took 3 days trying to figure out how to eliminate a buzz in the system. As my first interactive sound-generating sculpture, and this project showed me how much I needed to learn.
